GVB is the main public transport operator in Amsterdam, offering subway, tram and bus services throughout Amsterdam and the surrounding area.

The 24hrOV card costs € 7.50 for all persons aged 12 and over and € 2.50 for children from 4-11 years. There is also an OV card for one hour, which can be bought from the drivers or train attendants. However, this option is not recommended due to the high price. This card costs 2.90 € and is valid for one hour from the first use.
The following table explains the various tickets that are suitable for short breaks. During the respective validity, the OV cards allow unrestricted use in the GVB buses, trams, subways and night buses. Please note that the cards can not be used for the regional buses of Connexxion and EBS. If you want to use one of these buses, you will need to purchase a separate ticket.
It is important that you always check in and out when getting in and out of a vehicle. Even if you only change. Otherwise, it may happen that your card will not work when boarding again.
If you still have national stripes cards from your last visit, you can no longer use them.
The trams of Amsterdam are probably the best choice to get around the city and also go regularly to 0.15 clock
Amsterdam’s buses are primarily used to reach out-of-town locations during the day. As soon as the trams stop, night buses run from 0:30 to 7:00 am and serve junctions such as the central station, Rembrandtplein and Leidseplein. If you do not have a special GVB day or multi-day ticket, you will need to purchase an additional ticket for € 4.50. You can use this to switch to more GVB night bites.
Amsterdam’s subway system currently consists of four active lines whose service you can easily use to get to the more distant suburbs (see Metro Plan). Three of the subway lines start their journey at the central station. Some stations (such as Amstel and Sloterdijk) are also frequented by regular trains and are therefore convenient for traveling outside of Deejaychuckyg Amsterdam
